My thesis is a study in worldbuilding fictional cultures, religions, and mythologies. The world it's based on is from the Aetheria Chronicles, a book series I'm currently writing, a fantasy world in the middle of an industrial revolution. The first book begins in 1409 A.F. and follows the newest wielder of the Twisted Staff, an Exhalted Blue Blood, and a Kaelish wild child as they attempt to stop the Vidal Empire from taking over the world. The \"author\" of my thesis, Yasmine ir'Kai, is a side character in the series. The book itself, as explained in the preface, is a collection of mostly primary but sometimes secondary sources from the world of Aetheria, annotated by Yasmine ir'Kai to provide clarification to those who might be unfamiliar with the culture, history, and society of the Vidal Empire. Not every story in my thesis is relevant to the Aetheria Chronicles' main storyline, but they all serve to strengthen and expand the world of Aetheria that is explored in my books. The entire work is fictional, and though some cultures, traditions, and mythologies were based on existing ones from our world, I did my best to make them as unique as possible.
