A variant of the state seal is at the top between two \"3\" dies. At left, as noted in Durand's Interesting Notes About Vignettes II, is Freeman Rawdon's engraving of James Barry's 1772 painting, Venus Rising from the Sea. Liberty with a shield and eagle are in a frame in the right end panel. The Gothic title across balances this all beautifully. Bright and vivid. Ex: Eric P.
