PCGS Very Fine 35.   The $5 notes from this issue are printed on cream-colored or blue paper and are larger than the lesser denominations from the series. Like many Southern State issues, the early listings adapted by Criswell make the series difficult to follow (such as with and without imprint and added dates). Printed on cream colored paper, without imprint, by D. Weil Eng. in the common style for $5 notes. At top center, Commerce is seated on a bale with a shield showing a cotton plant with five bolls; the left end panel has the payable clause in an oval; and the right end has a perpendicular FIVE on shaded lathe work. Bright and well framed for the series. Light folds are seen from the back. Ex: Eric P.
