The $20, highest denomination, proof from this Page & Bacon series, payable at the Quincy City Bank. It has a different pedigree than the prior three and has small Wismer side hinges on the back. An India paper proof by Danforth, Bald & Co. Philada. & New-York. The unusual vignette at upper left was used on the Madison, Wisconsin Merchants Bank $5. Except for the presence of sheep at the right, the image resembles a scene from an artist's studio. Moneta, seated on a cushion with her back toward the viewer, leans her elbow on a lockbox partially covered with drapery. Money bags are at the left side. The shield showing a stag in the wilderness has a curious, horn-like protrusion that supports a curtain. America is represented at the right end. Ornate dies are in the lower corners and upper right center, and texts and titles are across the bottom. Noted with \"Paper Toned; Repairs.\" The toning consists of some mottling, and this note has a full appearance from the face. The series was not in the Vacca sale, and the only other $20 proof known was in the 1990 ABN Sale: Lot 366 $10-$10-$10-$20 sheet. This proof's extended pedigree is not known, but it was purchased at the April 2007 Schingoethe Part 10 sale (a series with 18 parts) An extremely rare proof with an interesting two-state tie.
