Maryland April 6, 1751 1 Shilling \"New Bill\" Fr. MD-22. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent. All issued Maryland notes prior to 1767 are extremely rare. There are remainder notes and sheets known from the 1733 issue, but issued notes are important to collectors in any condition. The original note used a wide format, initially created in 1733. The Maryland coat of arms is at the upper left and obligations are across the note. Handwritten \"New Bill\" is at top right. The two signatures are complete and clear. This example is missing a section of the left end, which split off, and the note is backed on thin tissue to stabilize the remaining 70%. The apparent notes are \"Splits, Tears, and Damage; Missing Pieces; Backed.\" In traditional grading, the note would be classified Poor to Fair. However, rarity rating is more important in this case, and this is perhaps a unique example of the type. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society\n\n
