St. Louis, (M.T.) - Bank of Missouri $1 Nov. 3, 1818 MO-30 G16 SENC. PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. A very scarce Bank of Missouri $1 issued note using the iconic vignette and signature combination seen on this series only. Eric has studied the signature combinations and timelines of the officers, in conjunction with observed plate types to understand all the varieties and their progression within this nuanced series. A common denominator throughout is that all the known notes are signed by Auguste Chouteau as bank president. The layout engraved by Murray, Draper, Fairman & Co. is similarly styled throughout the series. The Jefferson bust vignette is at top center, and intricate end panels have \"ONE\" left and \"MISSOURI\" right. Plate A. No. 4939. Signed by Langham as cashier and Aug. Chouteau as president. Noted with \"Small Edge Tears.\" There is some paper disintegration on the brittle top edge with a rounded piece chipped out above the vignette. This example has been in the Collection for decades.
