PCGS Fine 15 Apparent.   The highest denomination from this bank, which had the face of its notes engraved by Underwood, Bald, Spencer & Hufty in Philadelphia. However, that face imprint was removed when the second series was issued with finely engraved Rawdon, Wright, Hatch, Edson & Co., New Orleans color backs. In this case, the imprint is at the side of the printed back. At the top center is standing, appropriately garbed Athena holding her shield with a \"1000\" counter on it. Each identical end panel uses a classical style cameo profile (Aristotle?) and \"1000\" counters in each corner. The green printed back provided much extra security, particularly against note raising. At the center is a large \"1000\" with finely engraved cherubs crafted within, the bank title above and NEW-ORLEANS at the bottom; all are contained in a fine frame. The high denomination type is very rare; perhaps a few are known. The condition is more than sufficient to merit strong consideration.
