PCGS Good 6 Apparent.  The low grade does not alter the fact that this is a very rarely encountered bank. We know of three confirmed notes, including this $5, and one of those notes is the raised denomination Haxby plate note (ME-495 R5). Its importance is further illustrated by its use as the Wait plate note. The maritime motifs are engraved by Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Co. The central, nautical vignette is beneath the bold bank title. The sailor in the foreground holds a sextant while ships sail in the distance. The image is flanked by the textual denomination, which is distinguished by the use of a different typeface on the left and right, and red \"V\" protectors behind. Numerical counters are in the upper corners. An upright anchor among commercial goods is at lower left. A young woman in fancy dress is in an oval frame at lower right. The \"Hinge Repaired Edge Tears\" are noted by grading, but the note is just worn and soiled due its long circulation. Ex: Eric P.
