Continental Currency April 11, 1778 $4 Yorktown Issue Fr. CC-71. PCGS Very Fine 35PPQ. The Yorktown resolution notes are the hardest to obtain from the Continental series, particularly in high grade. This is the lowest denomination from the issue, which also added $20 and $40 notes. All notes used nature-print backs. The emblem on the $4 Continental notes shows a boar charging into a spear with the motto AUT MORS AUT VITA DECORA (Either death or an honorable life). In his Account, Franklin discusses the significance of the boar emblem, saying, \"He is inoffensive while suffered to enjoy his freedom, but when roused and wounded by the hunter, often turns and makes him pay dearly for his injustice and temerity.\" The circulation on this example is modest and seen from the back. The face is well margined on two sides and has full sheet margins on the left and bottom. A sharply printed Yorktown that is bold for the grade and very pleasing. Ex: Eric P.
