CC-38. PCGS Gem New 65PPQ. A beautiful May 9, 1776 Resolution $8 note and once the serial number 99011 sheet-mate to the prior $7 denomination. The emblem shows a harp with 13 strings of different sizes to represent the colonies; the motto is MAJORA MINORIBUS CONSONANT (The large colonies and the small colonies are in harmony). Only one note has been graded higher by PCGS. This example is worth examining closely, as some might consider it conservatively graded. The face margins are wide and even, the corners are razor sharp, and the printing is strong. The back is visually stunning, with an impressively detailed nature printing and border frame. Although shifted slightly to the left, there is a considerable margin seen all around. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society\n\nRealized $3525.00.
