CAC. WB-101. Ex: \"Col.\" E.H.R. Green. Identifiable as a Medium Date WB-101 by the closed space between the crosslet on the 4 and the base. The Medium date is the more frequently seen of the two varieties (examples of both date styles are included in this sale). The reverse has an distinctive arching die crack over the A(MERICA) and a large clash mark in the lower-right portion of the shield. Many Liberty Seated half dollars have a similar massive clash mark in the same position on the reverse shield. It has often been confused for an internal cud but it is actually from die clashing from Liberty's elbow area on the obverse die. This piece shows deep gray toning over each side, and there are no noticeable abrasions. The strike is strong throughout, and there is just the slightest high-point friction over the thigh of Liberty. Significant mint luster remains around the devices. Ex: \"Colonel\" E.H.R.
