Remainder. PCGS Gem New 66PPQ. A Gem example and superbly engraved Gavit & Co., Albany type. We have only seen a few notes from this title over the years and this is the finest. The notes were printed on $1-$1-$2-$5 sheets (see CAA Gordon Harris sale, 2002 FUN). This has a rather unusual layout. A rectangular frame at center below the title shows a half-length portrait of a Charles Cook (engineer, canal builder and prominent Havana business man), the first president of the bank and used on this title only, with folded hands on a dark background. Large numeric counters are flanking. At top left, a carpenter rests the head of his hammer on his workbench. Commerce is at lower right. This note shows deep, velvety blacks, the product of the style of graver used when cutting the plate. A superb note with an engaging style. Ex: Eric P.
