The first hall is analogous with the statue-lined courtyards of the royal mortuary temples at Thebes and the small temple of Ramesses III in the first courtyard at Karnak. It consists of a central nave and two aisles rather than an open peristyle court. The hall (h. 8 m) is supported by eight square piers, each accompanied by a colossus of the King (of the 'Osirid' or mummiform type) wearing the shendyt kilt (the 'royal pleated kilt'), with arms crossed on the chest holding crook and flail. The colossi on the northern side wear the double crown, and those on the southern side wear the white crown. Two chambers open from the northern side of the hall, while two suites (consisting of three rooms each) are entered through doors flanking the central axis of the hall. These were temple storerooms and possibly the resting places of certain cult images.
