William remarks that “tomorrow Hal comes into his fortune” at 21 years old and that he will make a good merchant. He writes about their meal and the price of turkey, shares an anecdote about Mo eating a dumpling, and says what various family members are doing at present. William speaks of his health and that he is doing parish work “as to make up the lee-way of war times.” He wishes to complete “Univ[ersit]y endow[ment]s?” so that he may take a long holiday.
