Proof. PCGS Gem New 66PPQ. The $1 proof from a striking Danforth, Wright & Co. engraved series of four denominations with red protectors. The title converted to the First National Bank of Monroe and redeemed most of the issued notes. A Gem India paper proof on original card stock with superb vignettes and die craftsmanship. At top center, a man leads a bull past resting goats while another, in riding attire, speaks with a farmer and boy. At far left, a buckskin-clad hunter reloads his weapon after felling an elk. A red protector ONE is across bottom center. Proofs from the bank are rare; however, there was a complete sheet in the 1990 American Banknote Company Archives auction at Christie's in 1990. Noted as \"Hole Punch Cancelled\" and \"Mounted on Cardstock\" as made. This Gem, with a stellar pedigree, is newly offered to the collecting community. Ex: Eric P.
