The earlier Draper, Toppan & Co. plates for the Bedford Commercial Bank received an engraved \"ABC\" monogram concealed at the bottom and color protectors for the final series of notes from the bank. At top center, flanked by \"5\" counters, an eagle with wings upraised perches upon a high branch as a train and ships travel far below. The center of the left end panel shows a Native American man holding a pipe as he sits on the ground. Intricate lathe work is at the right end with a perpendicular FIVE.
