This is an interior scene, possibly a living room - there's a table with a lamp and other objects behind the main subject, and a rather vague chair behind the table.  A young woman, wearing what appears to be a maid's uniform, is peering cautiously through a curtain.  The uniform is dark, but not black; probably grey, with a white apron worn over it.  This could be a disguise, as her shoes are too stylish for a maid.  Her hair is dark, and cut in a 1920s short bob.
