This is another extremely rare Civil War Louisiana-Texas tie scrip note that also appears to be a new discovery, like the \"Beckly/Bulkley\" $2 New Orleans-Texas note cataloged in this sale. This was issued from New Orleans and payable in Jefferson, Texas. The black issuer signature on the note is difficult to read, but \"W.F. George\" appears likely. The Medlar Texas reference lists a 50 cents note, in smaller format and differently styled, with similar payable obligations. The style and format of this dollar-denominated note is similar to other Texas tie notes from New Orleans. Printed on thin white paper. The denomination is across the center with \"3\" in an ornate cartouche at top center. The complex obligations are in the center. Each end has an intricate panel with an oval inset for a perpendicular vignette: a train at the left and steamboat at the right. Noted as \"Silked,\" but the note is very collectible and faces up well. This is an exciting specialist note from the Newman Collection. Ex: Eric P.
