PCGS Very Fine 20.   This is a fascinating example of the type. It is printed on thicker paper than normally encountered, and the plate details are comparatively cruder than others observed by us and in the Newman Collection. Like all notes of the type, engraved obligations cover most of the note. At upper left is an oval counter \"20\" encircled by thirteen stars. There is a lighter \"20\" to its right, showing to the back, and dark oval die with \"XX\" in left center, At the far left end is perpendicular TWENTY in shaded letters under an ornately engraved BANK. The printed back has an ornate, mirror image TWENTY that shows to the face slightly, unlike the show-through when printed on thinner paper, which mimics a protector in some respects. The face is very clean, and some penned endorsements are on the back. This slightly later dated note provides an interesting comparison with other examples of the general type. Perhaps the different counterfeits were created by different perpetrators. Not cancelled and rarely seen as such. Ex: Eric P.
