Kansas City, MO - City of Kansas-City Warrant $1 August 25, 1870. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. There are several dates observed from the City of Kansas and all are scarce, especially in choice condition. They were printed on two-subject $1-$2 sheets (the only two denominations authorized). The \"1870\" is engraved on this earliest series. A serene layout from the American Bank Note Company, New-York shows the steamboat KANSAS CITY in a cartouche created by the title. The frame and protector grill are in green, and \"1\" dies are in the top corners. A seated portrait of Benjamin Franklin, looking as if the viewer has just entered his study, is at lower left. A girl holds a spaniel at lower right in The Pets, engraved by Charles Burt as adapted from Sir Edwin Landseer's original art. The green security back has ornate lathe work. Plate A. No. 509. \"Small Edge Splits; Mounting Remnants on Back\" are noted by grading, but the color is strong. A beautifully rendered note and lovely grade for any note from the issuer. Ex: Eric P.
