PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. This is a rare and colorful issue with complex titles and obligations. Though it looks like a banknote at first, the issuer is the railroad company, paying off the note in the near future (less than 31 days) at the Salt Lake City National Bank of Utah. These notes come signed and issued and as remainders. This is the listed style, printed on both sides of bond paper by H. Siebert & Bros. Lith. 182 William St. New York. The common face type for the series, with a circular vignette showing a train rounding a curve with a telegraph line in the foreground. Flanking to the left is a light red \"1\" protector, and a red protector grill is across the signature block. Standing figures are at the ends: at the left is a Native American gesturing upward, and at the right is Athena as America. The obligation designation is engraved, \"__days after date Please pay to the order of / W.B. Welles Treas'r. / or Bearer. The green back has the same female portrait in all corners and the obligation at the center, \"REDEEMABLE / AT THE / SALT LAKE CITY/ National Bank / UTAH\" with flanking \"1\" dies. This serial number 80 note is a remainder, not signed or with its post-date. Noted by PCGS as having a \"Small Edge Tear at Right.\" There is some heavy handling, yet the note still exhibits vibrant color on both sides. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society\n\n
