Proof. PCGS Very Choice New 64 Apparent.  This is a very rare bank, like most of the Wisconsin banks from the Newman Collection proofs, and has a distinctive central vignette from the plates engraved by Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson, New York. A bold plate position B India paper proof mounted on its original cardstock. At top center, a mill is situated between a small canal and a rail line. The scene is enlivened by a boat sailing toward us and a train traveling away. At the lower right is seated America, with her hand on an ornate numeral \"1.\" \"Hole Punch Cancelled\" and \"Mounted on Cardstock\" as prepared. The noted \"Minor Adhesive Residue on Face,\" which is at the lower left, is a petty fault. This is a beautiful type, and we have seen only one other besides the two Newman examples. It appeared in the first Chester L. Krause sale, Lot 2015, and realized $2,070 in September 2009 (on India paper only and AU).
