PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent.  The Newman Collection Massachusetts Obsolete currency albums have yielded many new discoveries, like this note. A SENC type from a bank that redeemed most of their notes, such as this rarity, before they became a National Bank in 1865. In this case, the successor redeemed the note in 1882, illustrating the bank's longstanding relationship with the community. This Danforth, Wright & Co. engraved note has a discrete \"ABC\" monogram for its post-1858 plate, despite its 1853 engraved date. At the center, three cherubic boys are shown at the wharf with various agricultural implements, and a little lamb as well. They curl around a large \"5,\" which derives its stem from the stars and stripes held aloft. Flanking are \"5\" protectors. America is seated in a large \"5\" at left. Pynchon House, as engraved for the series, is at the right between \"5\" dies. The redemption stamp cancels noted by grading do not disturb the vignettes, and the \"Small Edge Tears\" have little effect on the charm of this note. An extraordinary Massachusetts note. Ex: Eric P.
