There's an open window on the right-hand side, with a full moon partly in view.  There are two men in the picture.  One is seated sideways at the desk, turned to look at the viewer.  He's a very portly gentleman in a suit, with combover hair, a mustache and pince-nez glasses.  He's holding both hands out and has a look of astonishment on his face.  The other man is dressed as a highwayman, complete with boots and spurs, a swirling cape, mask, and a hat with a cockade.  It looks like there might be a mustache.  He's holding a book in his right hand, smiling at the viewer and giving a salute with his left hand as he leaps to the window.
