Palmyra, MO - Bank of the State of Missouri $10 July 1, 1858 MO-60 G202 SENC. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent. The final genuine $10 branch note of this design type capping an impressive offering from five of the ten branches that were authorized to issue them. Printed from the new-style plate with the imprint of Draper, Toppan, Longacre & Co. Phila. & NY at bottom center. The layout is almost the same as on the previous $10 notes; here the Gothic-style \"Countersigned & Registered\" in red is stamped (not an engraved tint plate) above the vignette, as on the 1857 St. Louis $10 reissued note in this sale. The serial number block is at upper right with very little space for the \"Com'r\" signature. Townspeople in the central vignette watch the steamboat PIKE pass while a lone Native American man (from The Ruins of Jamestown vignette) crouches at left. George Rogers Clark and Daniel Boone are at left and right respectively, between \"X\" blocks. The title is straight across with \"St. Louis\" above and to the left. Plate A. No. 1678. Signed by Robinson and Hughes. The commissioner's signature is indistinct (Geo. Penn?) and squeezed in. The oval red surcharge stamp at lower right says RE-ISSUED at the top and S. PRICE below very distinctly -- the sharpest in the collection. \"Pinholes\" and \"Minor Rust Stains\" are noted, but this is solid and has just modest soiling. Like the other genuine $10 branch notes, part of the Newman Collection for decades and ready to join the next elite cabinet of Obsolete currency rarities. Ex: Eric P.
