St. Louis, MO - Treasurer of the County of St. Louis $00.50 Order Exchange August 9, 1826. PCGS Very Fine 35. This is a rare and very early Statehood-period St. Louis order exchange or warrant that was payable \"out of any Monies in the Treasury, appropriated for ...\" In this case, it was for \"County purposes.\" A partially printed form on thin, translucent paper. The imprint is at left: \"Printed at the Office of the Missouri Advocate.\" MISSOURI is in a cartouche in the right end. Issued to Richard Lowe, signed by the president and clerk, and countersigned on the plain back by the payee. The first example of this type we cataloged realized $1,292.50 in Newman Internet 3. There are three additional denominations, all different, remaining in this catalog to be sold. Though the selvage is trimmed to the borders, the paper quality is excellent.
