Engraved and printed by Wellstood, Hay & Whiting, New York & Chicago on India paper mounted on original cardstock. The layout is exemplary. Two allegorical females top center flank a shield showing the Mechanic's arm and hammer. At lower left, Justice sits in the bottom of the \"5\" that is adorned with vines. At lower right is a rarely seen Wellstood vignette of a bearded frontiersman and his dog taking a rest.  The Krause Collection had a $5 issued note with protector, but no proofs like these unique examples. Noted as \"Hole Punch Cancelled\" and also \"Mounted on Cardstock\" as made.
