RI-239. PCGS Very Fine 30.  This rare series of Rhode Island notes is usually encountered in damaged, lower grades. The issue is noteworthy for having some notes signed by William Ellery, Signer of the Declaration of Independence. Ellery \"Signer\" notes are quite rare and they were in very few collections until the four Boyd Rhode Island notes were sold in Ford Part XV. Those were among the finest known. However, this is problem free with excellent paper body. The signature is light, but it is clearly William Ellery. The presence of this example, along with the other five currency \"Signers,\" in this sale provides a great opportunity to put together a compact and interesting set at one auction, and with an excellent Colonial currency pedigree.
