Like all the others, this is an India paper proof mounted on its original card, and engraved and printed by Toppan, Carpenter & Co. The symmetrical layout shown is a hallmark of this engraving firm. The center is dominated by a large \"V\" engraved in a sculptural manner. An allegorical female holding a sheaf of wheat sits within. The three-dimensional appearance is enhanced by the foot that peeks out at the bottom and the elbow on which she leans. Holding the fasces, another allegorical figure makes herself comfortable in the \"5\" at lower right. Noted as \"Hole Punch Cancelled\" and \"Mounted on Cardstock\" as made. The equal of the other members of this illustrious set of Beloit proofs. A final chance to obtain a Newman Collection proof from this extremely rare bank. Ex: Eric P.
