CAC. Newman 8-X, W-6750, R.3. 140.2 grains. An impressive late die state example, this piece is the Obverse Die State E plate coin in Eric P. Newman's 2008 Fugio reference. The obverse is bulged left of the die crack, obliterating much of the legend MIND YOUR BUSINESS. This nicely centered Gem is exceptional for its full cartwheel luster and wonderful olive-brown surfaces that are free of the usual planchet rifts or laminations. The Bank of New York Hoard tally included 189 examples of this variety, slightly more than 10% of the 1948 inventory of 1,641 coins. Ex: Eric P.
