PCGS Fine 15 Apparent.  This is an interesting occupational title and very late 1865 written date. Engraved by the American Bank Note Co., New-York using vignettes originally designed by Wellstood, Hay & Whiting. The top center shows the Rhode Island shield flanked by a farmer and Native American. At lower left, a man rests a long scythe on his shoulder. The lower right has an oval vignette of a sailor. A green protector FIVE is at the bottom. Noted with \"Small Tape Repaired Edge Tears.\" The date is quite late for an Obsolete banknote. Most legitimate banks of the period had already received their Original Series National Bank Notes.
