PCGS Choice About New 58.  1928 $5 Federal Reserve Notes from the St. Louis district have turned out to be unexpectedly scarce in the highest grade ranges, with the latest Standard Catalogue of Small Size U.S. Paper Money pricing this note at $2,000 in Choice About New and omitting any price in Gem. The Newman holdings contain a pair of well-centered examples with consecutive serial numbers, with each in the same grade. We sold a PCGS graded About New 53 for over $700 in 2013, while the last example to reach the Choice New plateau sold for over $4,000 five years ago.  Ex: Eric P.
