New Jersey March 25, 1776 6 Pounds Fr. NJ-183. PCGS Choice About New 58PPQ. The highest denomination from the March 25, 1776, issue. Printed in red and blue on the face and in black on the nature print back. There were 3,125 six-pound notes printed in the \"first set-up\" with adjacent 3-pound notes. The face is similar to the 3 pounds with red Royal arms, sun vignettes, and interior bordering in red within a blue border. The text is blue. Within the red, left ornament is RITTENHOUSE. The margins are complete and the vibrant face color superb. Face-to-back registration is perfect. Only faint handling is seen with scrutiny. The eye appeal is superior to several examples graded higher. Illustrated on page 49 of the fifth edition of Newman's reference, The Early Paper Money of America.
