A promissory note from account holder Dr. John S. Stutson, payable to Aaron Crane, the St. Louis Postmaster and also partner in the Land Office Agency. The Missouri Exchange Bank managed his accounts and also redeemed his private scrip notes. Hand accomplished in English. Laid paper, 20.0 cm by 12.0 cm. Docketed \"[Jo]hn S. Stutson's Note/$116/due Dec'r. 1819.\" Bright from the face, but a long horizontal split is on the bottom third and the upper left corner is missing. A late fiscal piece issued when O'Hara's bank was more solvent than the chartered Bank of St. Louis and Bank of Missouri. Transcription: ____ Saint Louis, August 10th 1819 $108.
