This issued $10 note is from the Bald, Adams & Co., New-York/Bald, Cousland & Co., Philadelphia plate and is the prototype of what became the 1861 Confederate Type 23 note after the plates were altered in Richmond. In the vignette at top center, two horses, with heads down and wearing blinders, pull a wagon through the town. The driver is seated upon a bale of cotton. A man's portrait is in the oval at lower left; at lower right, a farmer carries stalks of grain as a child crawls around behind him. A red TEN protector is at bottom center. Noted only with some trivial \"Minor Rust Stains at Top Left.\" A solid and rare example. This note is also essential to the serious Confederate collector. Ex: Eric P.
