The 1860 jewelry scale has a well-preserved cherry wood case that holds a brass-plated balance and 3.2 inch brass pans. The case measures 6.9 x 4.1 x 1.3 inches and has an open weight compartment that includes nine weights. The second box is larger, made from blond-colored wood with its corners reinforced in brass. The balance mechanism includes a pedestal that screws into a plate affixed to the inside bottom of the box. A total of 17 weights is within the custom, felt-lined tray. The brass pans show some discoloration and a few small areas of corrosion. The felt has minor wear on a few high points. Ex: Eric P.
