Crane Post Master at the Post Office St. Louis, \"Post Office Change/Land Agency Office\" 50 Cents/Demi Piastre Undated (Ca. 1818-19). PCGS Fine 12 Apparent.  There were three denominations in this Crane-signed series. Locally printed, it appears, without imprint on frail white paper. Similar to the 25- cent and 75-cent notes from the series. Accordion-style cartouches are at both ends, with POST OFFICE EXCHANGE at left and LAND AGENCY OFFICE at right. Obligations and the denomination are across, with the French equivalent neatly in italics at the top center. The top and bottom show decorative borders. The signature is sharp for the grade. There is a faint hint of the \"ST. LOUIS\" portion of a postmark, but not the date. Noted with \"Pieces Missing; Tape Repairs; Rust Stains.\" Most Crane notes have severe faults like this. Despite condition flaws, an important Missouri note from this frontier post office. Ex: Eric P.
