Roger Durand's research was exhaustive, and he listed hundreds of notes that were reported in counterfeit detectors of the period, along with the notes that were verified in collections. This proof is printed on tan paper without imprint, though the style indicates Hamlin. At the bottom center, Hope is seated with an anchor and gestures toward the denomination. Her muscular upraised arm appears rather masculine (particularly since the stippling resembles hair). She rests her index finger lightly on the R in the HUNDRED arced directly above. A perpendicular HUNDRED is on the left end panel and two oval \"100\" dies are at the top.
