In Venice they patronized giorgio Massari, who completed the Ca' Rezzonico on the Grand Canal and also worked at the Villa Rezzonico near Bassano del Grappa. The Ca' Rezzonico was frescoed in 1739 by Giambattista Tiepolo, who created there a grandiose allegory celebrating the wedding of Ludovico Rezzonico and Faustina Savorgnan. About 1452 Doge Foscari began an enormous family palace, the Ca' Foscari, on a conspicuous bend in the Grand Canal, Venice. Although the building is emphatically Gothic in style, with borrowings from the Doge's Palace, the enthusiasm for humanist scholarship in Venice during his reign is suggested by such decorative features as the all'antica putti bearing the Foscari arms over the second-floor windows.
