PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. In addition to being a very scarce type, this issued note has other enhancing attributes. Printed from well-engraved plates by Rawdon, Wright & Hatch. Not only was this a post note, payable in \"ninety days after day\" written, it was also payable \"at the Planters & Merchants Bank of Mobile.\" At top center, between \"L\" counters, is a wharf and river scene, with a train traveling east and a steamboat heading west. The left end panel shows a perpendicular FIFTY. The right end panel has \"50\" above, and below, a cotton boll and leaves. An eagle in flight with the Stars and Stripes shield is at the bottom. Noted with \"Minor Mounting Remnants on Back; Minor Stains.\" A very bold note, and the mentioned trivial flaws are overshadowed by its beautiful pen accomplishment and strong printing. This note is a sleeper, in our opinion. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society\n\nRealized $2115.00. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18443.
