A new discovery from one of the smallest and most evanescent of the Kansas banks which flourished in the agricultural boom of the late 1880s and withered during the drought and agricultural depression of the 1890s. This institution issued $5 Brown Backs only during its nine-year tenure, and had but $370 outstanding by 1910. The National Bank Note Census reports only one example known from this charter, while the Track & Price Census reports two. Both agree that only one has ever appeared at public sale. That piece, graded Very Fine 35 with an inked name in the top margin fetched $5,750 in our FUN sale three years ago.
