PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent.  The Bank of the United States notes present perhaps the most complex series of Obsolete notes and are worthy of their own reference book. The Newman Collection contains numerous branch locations, Demand, Cashier and Post Note types from all three incarnations of the bank: First, Second and Third. This contemporary counterfeit mimics the genuine plate better than some other branch notes we have seen; these notes were deceptive in the period. At top center is an eagle. End panels show portraits (Franklin at left and Washington at right), eagles and cameo profiles. The false signature of Nicholas Biddle as president is at the bottom right. The Apparent designation is due to \"Edge Splits, Tears, and Damage; Repairs; Pieces Replaced.\" Endorsed on the verso and showing though slightly to the face. This serial number 1930 note is the Shank Maryland reference book plate note on page 285. Though a contemporary counterfeit, this is a rare type with sharp printing clarity. Ex: Eric P.
