PCGS Very Fine 30 Apparent.  A handsome note and issue. These were once very scarce, but a small accumulation of remainders appeared. Printed on two sides by Western Engraving Co. St. Louis. The top vignette shows a surveying team (adapted from Toppan, Carpenter & Co.). A full green frame is around with a micro-denomination guilloche across bottom center. At lower left, allegorical Commerce stands at a wharf. At the lower right is a dog on safe vignette, originally engraved by Henry Beckwith asThe Safeguard for ABN, adapted from Sir Edwin Landseer's painting, A Distinguished Member of the Humane Society. The brown security back shows the title in the center circle flanked by ONE/1 dies. Plate A, No. 1213. This appears to be issued, but the signatures have faded. Noted with \"Small Edge Splits.\" The color is still lively on both sides. Ex: Eric P.
