St. Louis, MO - John T. Martin-Martin's Clothing Warehouse, 114 Main Street Undated (1830-1840s) \"114\" Advertising Note. PCGS Very Good 10 Apparent. This early St. Louis advertising note is important because of the Rawdon, Wright, & Hatch, New-York imprint featuring the highest quality intaglio printing. Printed uniface on banknote paper. The interesting layout has dies showing the street number of the store placed where the denomination would ordinarily go. MAIN STREET is above and St. LOUIS is below. Between the dies is a classic vignette from the imprint of Commerce and Trident riding in the god's hippocampi-drawn seashell chariot. The elaborately engraved end panel at left shows an oval portrait of a helmeted soldier topped by a fantastic creature; the background appears three-dimensional. A cherub flies in a lovely frame at the right with scrollwork and floral ornaments above and below. Adding to the charm is the text at bottom left, \"No trouble to show Goods.\" Noted with some minor \"Stains,\" but quite unusual as an advertising note. Ex: Eric P.
