PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. Eric P. Newman has long been fascinated by unusual scrip notes, and this is another intriguing example of that genre. It is the Rothert plate note, and likely unique; we have never seen another. The odd $1.50 denomination and the obligation \"received for Postage at the Post Office\" make this immediately interesting. The combination of the distinctive crowing Rooster vignette and the issuer's signature, \"Jim Crow,\" makes this a very curious note indeed. Printed on white paper by \"J. D. Butler, printer for the State 'at large.'\" Noted with \"Repairs.\" Though with splits seen from the face and restoration, it is still bright and the vignette is bold. Yellville notes are always popular, and this is one of the rarest we have encountered. Ex: Eric P.
