The plate layout is the same as the Bank of the State of South Carolina $5 notes. A green guilloche is below, and small protectors are around the top center vignette of the well-known historical scene, The Sweet Potato Dinner. At the bottom corners are portraits of General Thomas Sumter and General William Moultrie. The green security back has the enactment at the center.
