Avera \"presented . . . to me at Camden, Ark,\" $2 Accommodation Paper May 1, 1862 Rothert 90-5. PCGS Very Fine 20.   This is an extremely rare Louisiana scrip note payable in Arkansas. J.A. Avera moved from Alabama to Camden in 1848, opened a drug store, and traded cotton and general merchandise. Avera's connection with Homer is not clear, though the notes are evidence of his activity there. Avera also issued scrip payable in Camden alone. This note, printed on thin brown paper is very colorful, with the text and vignette printed in blue, a large red \"$2\" protector at the center, and TWO perpendicular at the right over a hatched panel. A seated allegorical female in the forest perpendicular is at the left. The obligation and Camden payable are across center. There is a large red \"TWO\" on the back, visible though the translucent paper to the face. We handled a 10 cents note from this issue, the Rothert Plate Note, at the 2013 FUN Signature sale and it realized $1,880. This is a superior grade note. Ex: Eric P.
