Virginia October 16, 1780 $1000 \"clothing the Army\" Fr. VA-202. PCGS Very Fine 30. This is one of the finest \"for the more effectual and speedy clothing the Army\" notes we have encountered. The $1000 is the highest denomination of six printed. These specially authorized notes are a significantly rarer series on this enactment date than the printed back notes. Like the printed backs, these uniface notes are printed on very frail, thin paper with typeset text within an ornamental border. We believe they are Rarity 7 (4-12 known). The majority of these rarities are very low grade; most are missing pieces, or have other faults. This is a full, well-margined note, and should be considered \"perfect\" for the grade. It is exceptional and is without any ink corrosion (often seen from the acidic ink used to sign and number the notes). Superior to all the Boyd denominations from the issue. This museum-caliber note is illustrated in the color plates of the fifth edition on page 58. A lovely type note from this patriotically charged series and perhaps few, if any, surpass its strong grade. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society\n\n
