WB-101, Die Pair WB-20, R.3. Although the 1845-O is a relatively common date with NGC certifying 128 coins in all grades, only a quarter of those are in mint condition. This half dollar has attractive blue-steel obverse toning with hints of amber around the periphery, the reverse is silver-gray with hints of amber and blue. There are a few abrasions in the coin's fields but none are noteworthy. This half dollar is strongly struck with the exception of the weak left (facing) leg feathers of the eagle. The reverse shows die cracks through the letters of the legend and denomination, notably between UNITED STATES and through DOL, characteristic of this die marriage. An attractive, strongly struck example of this scarce die variety. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.\n\n Realized $1,645.00 .
