PCGS Fine 12 Apparent.  A rare and colorful mercantile scrip note lithographed in green inking by Skelton, Maeger & Co. Press, Provo on white paper. A larger format size than most private scrip from Utah. This is a Nyholm Type 1 with the red overprint in Roman lettering. The title is outlined on a green \"cloud\" at the top center. The green die in bottom center has obligations, payable \"in Woolen Merchandise at Retail,\" and the red overprint \"25 Twenty-Five Cents.\" With two signatures. The exact location of the manufacturing plant is not specified in either Rust or Nyholm, but sometimes inferred as Salt Lake City. However this has a Provo imprint and this was a sheep raising and wool manufacturing area. Primary source material from the period does not discuss this company specifically, which is peculiar considering the firm was important enough to circulate scrip notes. The Rust plate note was sold in Smythe's Schingoethe Part 14 Sale, April 2008, for $5,175. This note is equivalent grade to that rarity. Ex: Eric P.
